BJP files complaint against Karnataka CM over Election Commission protest
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Karnataka has filed an official complaint against Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and other Congress ministers, seeking the registration of an FIR and subsequent arrests. The complaint alleges that the Chief Minister and ministers violated laws and court orders by holding an unauthorized protest at the office of the Chief Electoral Officer.
Leader of Opposition R Ashoka led a BJP delegation to the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner, demanding transparency and the release of CCTV footage regarding the incident. Ashoka accused the Congress government of exerting unlawful political pressure on the Election Commission of India (ECI) and claimed that allegations regarding mass deletions in electoral rolls via Form-7 are “completely fabricated and false.”
Ashoka further warned that the BJP would not be intimidated by police actions perceived as being under the influence of the Chief Minister. He threatened to lay siege to police stations if BJP workers are arrested or if the police department is used to target party members in connection with the electoral roll disputes.
