BJP leader urges CBFC to remove ‘Shoorveer’ song from Mirzapur The Movie

Rajendra Rathore, a senior BJP leader and former Leader of the Opposition in the Rajasthan Assembly, has requested the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to remove the song ‘Shoorveer’ from ‘Mirzapur The Movie’.

Rathore argued that the song, which is a tribute to the historical figure Maharana Pratap, is being inappropriately used alongside scenes featuring gangsters, drug peddlers, and criminal characters. In a letter to CBFC chairperson Prasoon Joshi, Rathore stated that linking the values of Maharana Pratap with gang culture and violence is objectionable and hurts public sentiments regarding the historical and cultural heritage of the Mewar ruler.

Additionally, artist Rapperiya Baalam has claimed the song was used without permission, describing the usage as an insult to Rajasthan.
