BJP leader Vijayendra criticizes Karnataka government during padyatra
The BJP’s ‘Ballari Chalo’ padyatra entered its third day in Raichur, Karnataka, as state BJP President B. Y. Vijayendra criticized the Karnataka government over its handling of Dalit welfare and the agrarian crisis.
Vijayendra alleged that funds specifically allocated for the development of Dalits and oppressed communities through SCSP-TSP funds are being diverted to finance government guarantee schemes. He accused the Congress party of treating these communities merely as a vote bank.
Addressing the agricultural sector, Vijayendra highlighted a rise in farmer suicides, stating that 3,655 farmers in Karnataka have died by suicide over the last three years. He specifically noted high numbers in the Kalyana Karnataka region, including 295 deaths in Kalaburagi and 169 in Raichur. In response to these conditions, he demanded that the government waive crop loans of up to Rs 5 lakh for farmers in drought-hit areas.
