BJP to launch anti-drug campaign across Punjab

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is launching a statewide anti-drug campaign in Punjab titled ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatras’. Starting September 18, the initiative will consist of four simultaneous yatras designed to cover all 117 Assembly constituencies over approximately 12 days.

BJP Punjab president Kewal Singh Dhillon stated the campaign aims to transform the fight against narcotics into a mass public movement. Beyond drug awareness, the party intends to address deteriorating law and order, corruption, and the preservation of cultural values. Dhillon highlighted that the drug crisis is causing significant financial distress to families and contributing to increased crime and gang-related activities.

The four routes will begin from different regions: the northern region from Pathankot, the Malwa region from Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, the Sri Anandpur Sahib-Fatehgarh Sahib region, and a fourth from the Veer Bhumi Memorial in Fazilka. BJP National President Nitin Nabin is expected to flag off the first yatra, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah also slated to participate.
