Volkswagen CEO calls for economic reforms amid global job cuts

Several companies have released quarterly financial results. Jyske Bank A/S reported earnings per share of 21.95 DKK for the quarter ending September 30, 2026, a decrease from 23.18 DKK in the previous year. The bank's revenue fell by 52.30 percent to 3.28 billion DKK, though this exceeded analyst expectations of 19.49 DKK per share.

CAN DO reported earnings per share of 4.89 JPY for the quarter ending August 31, 2026, down from 22.66 JPY in the prior year. Revenue for the period was 21.95 billion JPY, up from 21.42 billion JPY in the same quarter last year.

In the automotive sector, Volkswagen CEO Oliver Blume has called for improved political frameworks in Europe to increase economic competitiveness. Facing industry challenges, Volkswagen plans to save billions and cut approximately 50,000 jobs globally, with roughly half of those cuts expected in Germany. Meanwhile, Deutsche Bank Research maintained a ‘Buy’ rating for Daimler Truck with a price target of 54 Euro, noting solid order positions in Europe despite disappointing heavy vehicle orders in North America during September.
