Black Jack 100 wins 21st Palermo-Montecarlo regatta
The supermaxi Black Jack 100 has secured the line honours victory in the 21st Palermo-Montecarlo regatta. Skippered by Tristan Le Brun, the 100-foot yacht completed the 500-nautical-mile course in 47 hours, 26 minutes, and 44 seconds, marking its third consecutive win in the event.
The race was marked by challenging conditions, including variable winds and a lightning strike near the vessel shortly before its arrival in Monte Carlo, which temporarily disrupted its electronic systems. Following the leader, the 86-foot Marta07 is expected to arrive later in the evening.
Due to severe weather forecasts, the Race Committee issued a temporary suspension of the competition for Friday, August 21, between 05:00 and 13:00. The suspension was ordered to protect crews from anticipated gale-force winds reaching 60 to 80 knots in the waters between the Strait of Bonifacio and Monte Carlo. During this period, vessels are considered ‘non in regata’ and must seek safe shelter; the time elapsed during the suspension will not count toward the final race results.
