The suspension was ordered to protect crews from anticipated gale-force winds reaching 60 to 80 knots in the waters between the Strait of Bonifacio and Monte Carlo. During this period, vessels are considered ‘non in regata’ and must seek safe shelter; the time elapsed during the suspension will not count toward the final race results.
