BlackRock digital asset portfolio grows by $30 billion in Q3 2026
BlackRock has significantly expanded its digital asset holdings, with its cryptocurrency portfolio increasing by nearly $30 billion during the third quarter of 2026. According to data from Arkham Intelligence, the firm's total digital asset reserves reached $77.1 billion, representing a 62.11% growth in three months.
Central to this growth is the iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), which holds over 801,270 Bitcoins. The fund has demonstrated massive buying power, recently purchasing $195.6 million of Bitcoin in a single day and totaling $1.57 billion in purchases over a one-month period. This activity accounts for more than half of the total net inflows for the entire US spot Bitcoin ETF category over the last 30 days.
In addition to Bitcoin, institutional demand has driven BlackRock's Ethereum holdings to over one million tokens. The portfolio's surge was fueled by both rising market valuations—with Bitcoin climbing over 42% and Ethereum rising over 70% during the quarter—and aggressive accumulation strategies to meet corporate client demand.
