Blanka Tunnel bus service launches in Prague
A new public transport bus line, number 145, has begun operating through the Blanka Tunnel complex in Prague, connecting the Dejvice and Čimice districts. The service officially launched on a Saturday morning, providing a direct link between Prague 6 and Prague 8.
The implementation of this route, which had been considered for over a decade, was made possible by an increased number of drivers at the Prague Public Transit Company (DPP) and new traffic management systems. Officials from the city and the transport organization Ropid stated that preferential measures have been established to ensure the bus can navigate the tunnel even during periods of increased traffic without significantly disrupting automobile flow.
While initial weekend operations have been on schedule, officials noted that potential delays may occur during weekday rush hours. However, Ropid expressed confidence that the specialized traffic priority measures will prevent major disruptions.
