Blidinje reforestation: 2,500 saplings planted at Boranka fire site
Volunteers and local officials have begun a reforestation initiative at the Boranka fire site within the Blidinje Nature Park. During the first of two planned phases, approximately 2,500 saplings were planted to restore the area damaged by previous wildfires.
The effort involved a wide range of participants, including students, hikers, civil protection units, firefighters, and the Red Cross. Notable attendees included Posušje Municipality Mayor Ante Begić, Minister of Spatial Planning, Construction, and Environmental Protection Mate Lončar, and forestry officials.
A second planting phase is scheduled for October 24, which aims to plant an additional 2,500 saplings, bringing the total restoration effort to 5,000 new trees for the park.
