Blizzard resumes Heroes of the Storm development

During the BlizzCon 2026 Opening Ceremony, Blizzard Entertainment announced that active development has resumed for Heroes of the Storm. Despite previous announcements that development had ceased, the game is returning with a new hero, Xal’atath.

Lead Game Producer James Yen stated that while the game entered an indefinite hiatus in 2022, a small, passionate group of developers has been working to bring the title back. Yen, who has been with the project since 2015, noted that the team remained motivated by the game’s dedicated community.
