Blockchain.com seeks CFTC licenses for US prediction markets
Blockchain.com has applied for two licenses from the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC): a Designated Contract Market (DCM) license and a Futures Commission Merchant (FCM) license. These approvals would allow the company to offer prediction markets and crypto derivatives directly to American retail and institutional customers under US regulatory oversight.
Currently, the company provides similar products to international users through third-party partnerships, such as its 2026 collaboration with Polymarket for prediction markets and its arrangement with Hyperliquid for perpetual futures. CEO Peter Smith stated that the filings aim to create a unified platform where customers can manage digital assets and trade derivatives in a single location.
The application comes as Blockchain.com prepares for an initial public offering (IPO) intended to raise approximately $500 million.
