Bloom Energy and Drone Technology Transform Power Infrastructure Inspections

Drones equipped with high‑resolution cameras, thermal imaging, LiDAR and AI analytics are being adopted by utilities to inspect power lines, substations, wind farms, solar plants and transmission towers. The aerial platforms allow rapid data collection without climbing structures, helicopters or service interruptions, improving safety, reducing costs and providing more comprehensive condition monitoring.

Bloom Energy is promoting solid‑oxide fuel cells as a combustion‑free power source for high‑demand applications such as AI data centers and industrial facilities. The fuel cells can run on natural gas today and be adapted for hydrogen or other green fuels, delivering dispatchable, flexible electricity without the delays and emissions associated with traditional gas turbines or large‑scale battery storage.
