Bloomberg Philanthropies Youth Climate Fund selects 300 cities, launches calls in General Pico and Punta Arenas
Bloomberg Philanthropies' Youth Climate Action Fund has chosen 300 cities worldwide, including General Pico in Argentina and Punta Arenas in Chile, to receive financing for youth‑led environmental projects. In General Pico, the municipal government opened the "Misión Clima GP" application period on 28 July, offering up to US$5,000 per project for young people aged 15‑24. The call runs until 8 September and will be supported by design workshops beginning 1 August. Secretary of Environment Sebastián Adamo highlighted the city's selection as a major achievement.
In Punta Arenas, the municipality announced a US$50,000 fund for similar projects, with applications accepted until 4 September. Mayor Claudio Radonich stressed the opportunity for local youth to propose initiatives across five priority areas, including ecosystems, waste management, sustainable tourism, energy efficiency, and Antarctica. The regional environment minister pledged technical support under Chile's Climate Change Framework Law.
