Blue Energy Partners secures financing as BW ESS enters UK battery storage deal

Blue Energy Partners, a Copenhagen-based marine fuel supplier and trader, has secured a double-digit million-dollar financing package. The new agreements include vessel financing for physical supply operations, as well as trade finance and working capital for international trading activities. The firm, which rebranded from Global Fuel Supply in May, aims to use the capital to strengthen its base and support international expansion.

In the energy storage sector, BW ESS and Danske Commodities have entered a 10-year optimization agreement for the Berkswell battery energy storage system (BESS) in the UK Midlands. The project, a 200MW/857MWh system, is currently under construction and is expected to come online in the fourth quarter of 2027. Danske Commodities will provide trading and optimization services for the site, which utilizes Sungrow’s PowerTitan 3 technology. The project reflects a growing trend in the UK toward longer-duration battery storage to participate in multi-market optimization.
