Blue Lock live-action film breaks Taiwan box office records

The live-action film adaptation of the popular soccer manga ‘Blue Lock’ has achieved significant box office success in Taiwan, surpassing 5 million TWD in its opening week. This performance sets a record for the opening week of a Japanese manga-based live-action film in Taiwan over the last decade.

In Japan, the film has also seen strong momentum, accumulating over 730 million yen and 510,000 admissions within its first ten days. Critics and audiences have praised the production, specifically noting the respect shown to the original source material and the high-quality performances by the cast, including Fumiya Takahashi, Masataka Kubota, and K of &TEAM.

To capitalize on the popularity, distributors are introducing several special screening formats starting August 21, including 4DX, Dolby Cinema, Dolby Vision + Atmos, and MX4D. Additionally, special ‘Ado support screenings’ featuring the film’s theme song artist will be held in late August to enhance the immersive experience for fans.
