Blue Marina Awards urge climate resilience for Italian tourist ports in Capo d’Orlando

The third stage of the 2026 Blue Marina Awards was held at Capo d’Orlando Marina, focusing on “Marina and climate change: safety, resilience and environmental management for the future of tourist port activity.” Panels brought together officials, researchers and industry leaders to discuss how Italian marinas can confront rising sea levels, coastal erosion, storm surges and more intense weather events. Speakers highlighted the need to turn scientific data into preventive planning, improve operational safety, and protect people and infrastructure.

The event also examined daily sustainability practices, including biodegradable products, water‑quality monitoring buoys, energy consumption, water‑resource management and circular‑economy approaches. Participants presented digital tools, hydrogen‑based energy concepts and other low‑impact technologies as ways to make marinas strategic assets for coastal economies and community safety.
