Blue Mountains mother charged with murder after stabbing three children

A 42-year-old woman is facing murder charges following a stabbing attack on her three children in the Blue Mountains suburb of Valley Heights. The incident occurred on a Sunday afternoon when the family was found in a car parked on Waratah Road.

Two children have died as a result of the attack. A five-year-old was declared dead at the scene, and a one-year-old died in the hospital on Thursday. A three-year-old sibling remains in critical condition. The mother, who was also treated for self-inflicted wounds, has been charged with the murder of her five-year-old and two counts of grievous bodily harm with intent to murder regarding her other children. She will face an additional murder charge following the death of the infant.

Passing cyclists discovered the scene and administered first aid to the surviving children before emergency services arrived. The woman is scheduled to appear at Penrith Local Court on November 20. Police are investigating the circumstances of the attack, including whether a parental argument served as a catalyst.
