Indonesia's BMKG issues widespread rain forecast for June 23, 2026

Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued a national outlook for Tuesday, 23 June 2026, warning of light to moderate rain across most of the archipelago. The agency expects thick cloud cover and possible heavy rain in West Java, with thunderstorms forecast for Palu and Mamuju, and urged residents to stay alert. In Jakarta, skies will start clear‑to‑cloudy before scattered light rain develops in the afternoon and evening, while the nearby Thousand Islands are already experiencing rain. Central Java is forecast to see scattered showers mainly in highland and mountainous districts. West Sumatra faces a chance of moderate to heavy rain especially in Limapuluh Kota, Dharmasraya and surrounding areas. Papua Barat shows mixed conditions, ranging from sunny in Sorong to cloudy elsewhere. Across the country, temperatures will vary between 17 °C and 35 °C, humidity from 30 % to 98 %, and winds generally light to moderate. BMKG advised the public to remain prepared for sudden showers, short‑lived gusts and localized flooding, particularly in the western regions.
