Indonesia's BMKG predicts rain in Jakarta area on June 14, 2026

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued a forecast for Sunday 14 June 2026 predicting light to moderate rain across Jakarta and the surrounding Jabodetabek region, with possible thunderstorms in Jakarta Selatan in the evening. The agency warned that rain may begin in the morning in parts of West Jakarta, Central Jakarta, North Jakarta and the Thousand Islands, becoming more widespread by afternoon and persisting into the evening.

BMKG also warned of heavier rain and thunderstorm risk in several major cities in western Indonesia, including Medan, Jambi, Palembang and Tanjung Selor, while many other cities such as Pekanbaru, Padang, Bandung, Surabaya and Jakarta were expected to see light rain. Numerous locations from Banda Aceh to Samarinda were forecast to be cloudy, and the eastern islands were forecast to have light rain or cloudy conditions.

Separately, BMKG’s East Java climatology station projected that the dry season in the Malang Raya area will be prolonged until October‑November 2026 due to an El Niño event, raising concerns over reduced water flow and increased fire risk.
