BMW adds entry X1 model in Argentina and long-wheelbase X1 in India
BMW Group Argentina introduced a new entry‑level X1 sDrive18i Efficient for the Argentine market. The model is powered by a 1.5‑litre turbocharged three‑cylinder engine delivering 156 hp and 230 Nm, paired with a seven‑speed dual‑clutch Steptronic transmission. Priced at USD 48,500, it includes a curved digital display, advanced driver‑assist features and a three‑year/200,000‑km warranty.
In India, BMW announced the upcoming launch of a long‑wheelbase X1 on 21 August 2026, to be assembled locally in Chennai. The LWB version adds 116 mm of length and a 2,800 mm wheelbase, expanding boot capacity to 540 L. Two petrol engines are expected – a 1.5‑litre unit (154 bhp) and a 2.0‑litre unit (204 hp) – both mated to a seven‑speed dual‑clutch gearbox. The model will feature vegan leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging and a curved iDrive display, with an estimated starting price of around INR 51 lakh.
