BMW regional market expansion and model launches

Overview

BMW continues its regional expansion through new model launches and aggressive promotional strategies. In Argentina, the company has bolstered its entry-level lineup with the X1 sDrive18i Efficient and the 118 BlackEdition. In Vietnam, BMW has implemented significant promotional campaigns for electric vehicles and introduced the new generation BMW X1 via Thaco Auto. In Poland, BMW has introduced new monthly leasing rates for the X1 compact Sport Activity Vehicle (SAV).

In India, the brand has expanded its locally assembled lineup at the BMW Group Plant in Chennai. Following the launch of the combustion-powered X1 Long Wheelbase (LWB) in August 2026, BMW Group India has officially introduced the BMW i5 Long Wheelbase (LWB). This model represents the company’s first locally produced electric sedan in the Indian market.

The i5 eDrive35L M Sport is priced starting at INR 79,60,000 (ex-showroom). An exclusive ‘First Edition’ limited to 99 units was introduced at the same price point and sold out before the official launch. The i5 LWB features a 3,105 mm wheelbase and is equipped with an 81.6 kWh battery, offering a claimed range of up to 669 km on the MIDC cycle. The electric motor produces 268 hp and 410 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h acceleration in 6.7 seconds. Premium interior features include a vegan leather cabin, a 14.9-inch BMW Curved Display, a Sky Lounge panoramic glass roof, and a Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system.
