BMW begins production of new 7 Series sedan featuring Neue Klasse technology

BMW has started series production of the redesigned 7 Series flagship sedan at its Dingolfing plant in Germany. For the first time the company's Neue Klasse technologies – a new software and electronic architecture, BMW Panoramic iDrive, Passenger Screen, Theatre Screen and Symbiotic Drive system – are being fitted to an established model, with plans to roll the innovations into about 40 BMW Group models by the end of 2027.

The fully electric i7 xDrive60 receives a sixth‑generation cylindrical‑cell battery that offers up to 727 km (WLTP) range and a 28‑minute charge from 10% to 80%. Production combines high automation with manual craftsmanship, including a dual‑finish paint process that requires more than 4,500 minutes per vehicle. The plant runs on renewable electricity and uses a biomass boiler for half of its heat needs, underscoring BMW’s push toward sustainable manufacturing.

BMW has invested a two‑digit‑million‑euro sum in Dingolfing and its nearby component site in Lantzhof to support the rollout, while the new 7 Series also offers a breadth of customization options with over 500 exterior colours and roughly 700 interior material combinations.
