BMW accelerates iX3 production following 100,000 European orders

BMW is experiencing significant demand for its new electric vehicle lineup, particularly the iX3 SUV, which is the first model built on the company’s Neue Klasse architecture. In Europe, orders for the iX3 have surpassed 100,000 units within a year of opening order books.

To meet this demand, BMW has transitioned its Debrecen plant in Hungary to a 24-hour, three-shift production schedule. This represents the fastest production ramp-up in the history of the BMW Group. The facility, which employs over 5,000 people, is also preparing to begin production of a second Neue Klasse model, the iX4, later this year.

Beyond the iX3, BMW is advancing several other models. Testing is underway for the next-generation 3 Series, including the M350 xDrive, and the electric M3 concept. The company is also preparing a facelift for the M5 and expanding its global production footprint, with plans to produce US-bound iX3 models at its San Luis Potosi plant in Mexico starting next year.
