BMW India opens pre-bookings for X1 Long Wheelbase
BMW India has officially opened pre-bookings for the new X1 Long Wheelbase (LWB) model, which is scheduled for a full market launch on August 21, 2026. The vehicle is produced locally at the BMW Group Plant in Chennai.
This new combustion-powered model expands the company's existing stretched SUV lineup in India, which already includes the all-electric iX1 LWB. The decision to introduce a long-wheelbase version follows strong market demand; in the first half of 2026, long-wheelbase models accounted for more than half of BMW’s total sales in India.
The X1 is currently BMW's highest-selling luxury SUV in the Indian market. The LWB variant is designed to provide increased legroom for rear passengers and additional boot space compared to the standard model.
