BMW iX3 electric SUV earns five-star Euro NCAP safety rating
The BMW iX3 has achieved a five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP, meeting the organization’s updated 2026 safety protocols. As the first model from the Neue Klasse architecture, the electric SUV exceeded minimum requirements across four evaluation areas, including active safety, accident prevention, occupant protection, and post-collision safety.
The iX3 scored 73% in Safe Driving and 83% in Accident Prevention. Notable features include frontal collision alerts with automatic braking, speed limit recognition, and cyclist proximity warnings. In occupant protection, the vehicle achieved 86%, aided by a central airbag between the driver and passenger. The model also recorded a 95% score in post-collision safety, featuring automatic emergency calls and systems to secure high-voltage batteries after an impact.
Additionally, BMW is testing the new electric i3 sedan in Brazil. Built on the same Neue Klasse platform as the iX3, the i3 features an 800-volt architecture and sixth-generation eDrive technology. The sedan is designed to offer up to 900 kilometers of range under the WLTP cycle and can recover 400 kilometers of range in 10 minutes using a fast charger.
