BMW iX3 faces Swiss recall over airbag defect as Mexico plant prepares new electric models
BMW has issued a recall for its recently launched iX3 electric SUV in Switzerland after discovering that the head‑airbag may not have been properly bolted during production, posing a risk of malfunction or injury in a crash. Owners are instructed to contact dealers for a free inspection and corrective repair.
Separately, BMW announced that its San Luis Potosí factory in Mexico will begin producing the next‑generation iX3 and i3 models built on the new Neue Klasse electric platform. The €800 million investment will expand the plant by about 110,000 m², raising BMW’s total spend in Mexico to roughly $2 billion and aiming to boost regional supply of its electric lineup.
