BMW iX3 hits 100,000 European orders, driving production expansion
BMW is experiencing significant milestones in its transition to electric mobility. The new iX3, the first model based on the ‘Neue Klasse’ technology platform, has reached 100,000 orders in Europe within one year of its launch. This high demand has prompted the company to switch to 24-hour, three-shift production at its Debrecen plant in Hungary to accelerate manufacturing.
In addition to the iX3 success, BMW’s Regensburg plant in Germany celebrated its 40th anniversary by producing its nine-millionth vehicle, an electric iX1. The Regensburg facility remains the company’s highest-volume plant in Europe.
Expanding its global footprint, BMW has also commenced local production of the flagship i7 electric sedan in Chennai, India. This move establishes India as the only market outside of Germany to manufacture this specific luxury EV model. The company plans to introduce approximately 40 new or updated models utilizing Neue Klasse technologies by the end of 2027.
