BMW iX3 tops European premium electric SUV sales in April
BMW reported that its new iX3 electric SUV sold 10,299 units in Europe during April, its first full month of sales, making it the segment leader among premium midsize electric SUVs. The model outperformed rivals such as the Polestar 4 and approached the sales figures of Audi’s Q6 e‑tron, while the overall premium SUV segment grew 8% in the first four months of 2026.
The iX3 is built on BMW’s dedicated 800‑volt “Neue Klasse” platform, offering ultra‑fast charging (up to 400 kW) and long range, features that analysts say are expanding the appeal of premium electric SUVs beyond early adopters. BMW confirmed that the iX3 will arrive in Brazil in the second half of 2026, positioning it as a central model in the company’s electrification strategy for the South American market.
The strong European uptake has prompted a second production shift at BMW’s Debrecen plant in Hungary and indicates that a third of iX3 buyers are new to the brand.
