BMW M unveils M5 Touring high-performance police concept
BMW M has developed a specialized M5 Touring concept designed to serve as a high-performance police patrol vehicle. Engineered by the BMW M team in Garching, Germany, the exhibition model features a custom livery of blue, neon yellow, and retro-reflective white designed to comply with official regulations.
Because the M5 Touring possesses wider bodywork than the standard 5 Series, the team had to redesign the official police graphics and implement a slimmer, more aerodynamic light bar to ensure all sensors and cameras remain functional.
The vehicle utilizes a plug-in hybrid powertrain consisting of a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine paired with an electric motor, producing approximately 717 to 727 horsepower. While currently an exhibition model, BMW has indicated the possibility of these vehicles being available for official purchase by law enforcement agencies.
