BMW rolls out Final Edition X5 in Japan and previews new X5 model
BMW announced a limited‑run “Final Edition” of the X5 xDrive40d M Sport in Japan, priced at ¥13.98 million and slated for delivery from July. The trim adds a full M‑Sports package, 22‑inch BMW Individual light‑alloy wheels, red‑high‑gloss brake calipers, M‑carbon‑fiber interior trim and a panoramic glass roof. Buyers can choose from four body colours and the model retains the 48‑volt hybrid system.
A separate global rollout of the next‑generation X5 is scheduled for June 30. The fifth‑generation “G65” will be built in Spartanburg, South Carolina and will be offered with five power‑train options – gasoline, diesel, plug‑in hybrid, full electric (iX5) and a hydrogen fuel‑cell version expected in 2028. The new X5 will sit on an updated CLAR platform, feature optional 23‑inch wheels, a redesigned interior centred on the iDrive X touchscreen, and a weight‑balanced chassis. The electric iX5 will weigh over 2,800 kg, making it BMW’s heaviest production model.
