BMW to launch M 1000 RS sport‑touring motorcycle for 2027

BMW Motorrad is preparing a new sport‑touring model, the M 1000 RS, for the 2027 model year. The bike has been certified by both the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the California Air Resources Board (CARB), confirming its status as a 2027 model.

The M 1000 RS will share the 999 cc inline‑four engine of the M 1000 RR, delivering over 200 hp (205 hp at 13,000 rpm) and 113 Nm of torque. Certification data show the same emissions figures as the 2026 M 1000 RR, indicating unchanged performance. The RS version is expected to be a sport‑touring variant, with a higher Equivalent Inertia Mass (280 kg vs 270 kg for the RR) and a slightly higher curb weight to accommodate luggage and a passenger.

Industry observers anticipate a possible reveal at the EICMA show in 2026, with the M 1300 GS also slated for future development.
