BMW unveils ALPINA luxury sedan and SUV plans ahead of 2027 launch

BMW presented the Vision BMW ALPINA, a one‑off design study, at the 2026 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. The coupe, based on the discontinued 8 Series Gran Coupe, showcased the brand’s future design language but will not go into production.

BMW dealers in the United States were given a private preview of the upcoming ALPINA models. The first will be an ultra‑luxury 7 Series sedan (code‑named G72) slated for a 2027 debut, featuring a distinctive grille, an enhanced V8 engine, a more sumptuous interior and a possible electric variant. A second‑generation X7‑based SUV (code‑named G69) is expected in 2027 with launch likely in 2028, also bearing unique styling and premium fittings. Pricing is expected to start above $180,000, positioning ALPINA between BMW’s top‑tier models and Rolls‑Royce. BMW aims to fill a gap in its portfolio and capture customers who might otherwise choose Maybach or Bentley.
