BMW unveils new X5 SUV with five powertrain choices
BMW presented the latest generation of its X5 SUV at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival in the Czech Republic. The model rests on the updated CLAR platform and adopts design cues from the brand’s Neue Klasse line, including new X‑shaped headlights.
The new X5 will be offered with a wide range of powertrains: conventional gasoline and diesel mild‑hybrid six‑cylinder engines, a plug‑in hybrid variant, a fully electric version and a hydrogen‑fuel‑cell model. The top‑end plug‑in hybrid M60e will feature a distinctive yellow trim.
Inside, the vehicle showcases a panoramic iDrive system with a full‑length head‑up display and an optional fourth screen for the front passenger. New interior materials, such as a slate‑tone trim, and seats that can be heated, ventilated and massaged, are also highlighted. Cargo capacity reaches up to 655 L.
