The fifth generation of the BMW X5 is entering the final stages of its development program. Currently undergoing final calibration testing at the BMW Group plant in Spartanburg, USA, the new model will be the first in the series to offer five distinct propulsion technologies.
Key upcoming models include the fully electric BMW iX5, which utilizes sixth-generation eDrive technology featuring an 800V system and a high-voltage battery capacity of up to 144 kWh in the US. Additionally, BMW plans to introduce the iX5 Hydrogen in 2028, marking the brand's first series-production hydrogen vehicle featuring a fuel cell system and Flat Storage technology. The lineup will also include gasoline and diesel mild-hybrid 48V variants, as well as plug-in hybrid models.
