BNDES approves billions in funding for cleaner buses and rail logistics in Brazil

The National Development Bank (BNDES) approved a R$267.55 million loan to three companies of the Grupo Comporte for the purchase of 432 Euro 6 low‑emission buses. The vehicles will operate in Blumenau (SC), the Federal District and the Baixada Santista region (SP), replacing older fleets and serving more than 540,000 passengers daily with air‑conditioning, accessibility features and electronic ticketing.

In a separate financing, BNDES granted R$377.2 million to Brado Logística to expand railway infrastructure and modernise its operations. The funds, drawn from the Finem and Finame lines, will finance locomotives, multimodal terminal upgrades and the Project Carrossel corridor linking Santos, Sumaré and Rondonópolis. The project is expected to create 586 jobs and cut CO₂ emissions by up to seven times compared with road transport, boosting the efficiency of Brazil’s cargo‑distribution network.
