BNDES initiates talks with Interpol and Federal Police to bolster integrity

BNDES has entered negotiations with Brazil’s Federal Police (Polícia Federal) and Interpol to establish a partnership aimed at strengthening the public bank’s integrity mechanisms. The discussions, held at the BNDES headquarters in Brasília, involve BNDES President Aloizio Mercadante, Federal Police Director-General Andrei Rodrigues, and Interpol Secretary-General Valdecy Urquiza.

The proposed cooperation focuses on information sharing to enhance the bank’s ability to prevent money laundering and the financing of terrorism. Additionally, the partnership seeks to develop new risk management tools for the bank’s institutional and financial relations. Mercadante stated that reinforcing integrity and economic security is vital for protecting the economic environment.

While the institutions have begun talks regarding the format of this future partnership, no specific timeline for a final agreement or detailed specifics on the types of information to be shared have been disclosed.
