Brazil security and financial integrity cooperation

Brazil has expanded its security and integrity cooperation through partnerships with INTERPOL and domestic law enforcement. Initially, a summit in Brasília saw the Inter-American Development Bank and INTERPOL announce a partnership via the Alliance for Security, Justice, and Development’s Rapid Response Task Force. This includes a pilot program in Brazil involving a $100,000 technical assistance package to support Latin American and Caribbean nations.

Simultaneously, Brazil’s Federal Highway Police demonstrated the ‘Alerta Brasil’ system—a real-time monitoring network of cameras and license-plate readers—to delegations from Chile, Paraguay, and Panama to combat transnational crime.

Following these regional security efforts, the focus shifted toward financial integrity. The Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) entered negotiations with Brazil’s Federal Police and INTERPOL to strengthen its internal mechanisms. These discussions aim to enhance information sharing to prevent money laundering and the financing of terrorism, while developing new risk management tools for the bank’s institutional and financial relations.
