BNG deputy demands halt to family eviction in Narón

Néstor Rego, a deputy for the Bloque Nacionalista Galego (BNG), has called on the Spanish government to intervene and halt the upcoming eviction of a vulnerable family in Narón, A Coruña. The eviction is scheduled to take place in a building owned by the asset management company Sareb.

Rego criticized the government for allowing the eviction to proceed, suggesting that the administration should not act like a “speculative real estate company or a vulture fund” when housing is a central political issue. He noted that while the case began before certain eviction protections were in effect, current decrees should now apply to prevent the displacement.

Additionally, the BNG deputy highlighted that Sareb holds approximately 3,000 properties, 1,700 of which are reportedly habitable. He urged that these assets be made available to the public housing stock for social rental purposes to support families in demonstrated states of vulnerability.
