Boa Vista police indict man for impersonating lawyer in fraud scheme

The Civil Police of Roraima have indicted a 49-year-old man for fraud in Boa Vista. The suspect allegedly impersonated a lawyer, using a stolen registration number from the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB) to gain credibility with his victims.

Between April 2025 and June 2025, the individual targeted nine people, promising to resolve legal actions and release financial benefits. The investigation revealed that the suspect collected payments via Pix and cash for non-existent services, resulting in total losses of approximately R$ 19,000. One victim reportedly hired the suspect to handle a case involving a fatal traffic accident.

While a request for preventive detention was denied by the courts, authorities have ordered the freezing of the suspect's bank accounts.
