BOAK highway: Driver destroys safety barriers during illegal overtake

A driver engaged in dangerous driving on the Northern Road Axis of Crete (BOAK) near Malia on the morning of Saturday, August 29. Captured by a dashcam from a following vehicle, the driver entered the oncoming lane to overtake other vehicles, destroying plastic safety bollards and dividers installed due to ongoing roadworks.

The driver performed a second sudden maneuver to return to their original lane, further damaging the safety measures. The Hellenic Police (ELAS) Traffic Department is currently reviewing the video footage and gathering witness statements to identify the driver and issue fines for violations of the Highway Code.
