Dangerous driving incidents in Greece

Overview

A series of dangerous driving incidents involving illegal overtaking has been reported in Greece.

In Lefkada, a tourist bus driver performed a maneuver on a bridge by driving into oncoming traffic to overtake stationary vehicles in an area marked with double solid lines. An oncoming car was forced to stop abruptly to avoid a collision.

On August 29, a separate incident occurred on the Northern Road Axis of Crete (BOAK) near Malia. A driver entered the oncoming lane to overtake other vehicles, destroying plastic safety bollards and dividers intended for roadworks. The Hellenic Police (ELAS) Traffic Department is reviewing footage to identify the driver and issue fines.
