Boat accidents reported in Amazonas and Pará regions

Two separate boat accidents involving passengers in the Brazilian Amazon have been reported.

In Maués, Amazonas, a young participant of the 'Parlamento Jovem' program, Iangles Gabriel, died after a vessel sank in the Maués-Açu River near the Palhau community. While six other passengers survived, Gabriel was rescued from the water and taken to the Raimunda Francisca de Nelly Emergency Hospital, where he passed away approximately one hour after arrival.

In the Marajó region of Pará, a small school boat carrying 11 children sank in the Marajó Bay near the mouth of the Muaná River. Two children sustained injuries, including wounds to the arm and head. Authorities are investigating the cause of the shipwreck and the safety conditions of the vessel used for student transport.
