Water accidents and missing persons in Brazil

A series of water-related accidents and missing persons incidents have been reported across various regions of Brazil.

In the Amazon regions of Amazonas and Pará, boat accidents resulted in casualties and injuries. In Maués, Amazonas, a young participant of the ‘Parlamento Jovem’ program died after a vessel sank in the Maués-Açu River. In the Marajó region of Pará, a school boat carrying 11 children sank in the Marajó Bay, leaving two children injured.

Subsequent reports indicated further incidents, including a motorboat fire on Lago Paranoá in the Distrito Federal that left four tourists with serious burns. Search operations were also launched in Santa Catarina for a missing 10-year-old boy, while other incidents involved individuals falling into or disappearing in rivers near the Amazonas-Acre border and in Jataí.

Recent developments include the recovery of the body of 22-year-old José Kaique Martins de Azevedo in Balneário Camboriú, Santa Catarina, four days after he disappeared from a beach. In Jataí, Goiás, divers located the body of a 19-year-old man in the Rio Claro after he submerged following a slip on rocks. Additionally, in Balneário Piçarras, Santa Catarina, search operations were initiated for a 10-year-old boy who disappeared in the sea after being struck by a wave, though searches were temporarily suspended due to nightfall.
