Bochum apartment fire leaves resident hospitalized

An apartment fire occurred in a multi-family building on Königsallee in the Wiemelhausen district of Bochum during the night of September 7, 2026. The fire originated in a third-floor apartment.

The resident of the affected unit managed to escape before emergency services arrived but suffered smoke inhalation and was transported to a hospital for treatment. Other residents also evacuated the building safely.

Firefighters utilized breathing apparatus and thermal imaging cameras to extinguish the flames and prevent the fire from spreading. While the affected apartment is currently uninhabitable, other residents have been able to return to their homes. Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire and the resulting damages.
