Bodmin Town Council Rejects Housing Conversion at 81A Fore Street
Bodmin Town Council has formally objected to a proposal to add two additional floors and convert a town‑centre building at 81A Fore Street into nine residential flats. The property, currently partially used by the Bodmin Light and Life Church, is slated for vertical extension pending Cornwall Council planning approval.
During the council's planning committee meeting, the vote was split three‑to‑three. As chair, former mayor Cllr Andy Coppin cast the deciding vote and upheld the objection, citing concerns over the lack of parking provision, insufficient amenity space, and inadequate sustainable water drainage. The final decision will be made by Cornwall Council, which will consider the council's objection as part of its consultation process.
