Dominican Republic police arrest man after woman found dead in Haina

Authorities in the Dominican Republic have arrested José Luis Fabián Rodríguez following the death of Loyca Alvarado Adames, 37. Alvarado, who had been reported missing on a Sunday, was found dead on Monday in a thicket near the Circunvalación Santo Domingo highway in the vicinity of Haina, San Cristóbal province.

The victim's body showed a gunshot wound, leading police to upgrade the investigation from a missing person case to a homicide. The corpse was sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) for an autopsy.

Family members have expressed profound distress and criticized the judicial response. They revealed that Alvarado had previously attempted to file a formal complaint against her ex-partner for aggression and harassment, but claimed the authorities did not formally receive the report at the time. The suspect was apprehended via a judicial order and has been placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry for legal proceedings.
