Philippine Airlines orders up to 20 Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners and selects GE GEnx engines

At the Farnborough International Airshow, Philippine Airlines (PAL) announced an order for up to 20 Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners, with 15 aircraft firm and options for five more. The carrier selected GE Aerospace GEnx‑1B engines to power the new fleet, citing the engine’s 99.98% dispatch reliability and fuel efficiency. PAL also signed a memorandum of understanding for nine additional Airbus A350‑1000 aircraft, doubling its total A350‑1000 order to 18. The airline plans to use the 787‑10s for medium‑ and long‑haul routes in Asia, Australia and the Middle East, while the A350‑1000s will serve nonstop flights to North America. Executives highlighted the moves as part of a broader strategy to modernise the fleet, expand the international network and improve passenger experience.
