PAL adds A350‑1000, launches SF nonstop

Entities: Manila · Philippine Airlines · Justin Warby · Lucio Tan III · Davao City

Overview

In mid‑July 2026 Philippine Airlines began a three‑day flash sale for Australian travellers and confirmed a major wide‑body purchase. At the Farnborough International Airshow the carrier formalised an order for up to 20 Boeing 787‑10 Dreamliners and signed a memorandum of understanding for nine additional Airbus A350‑1000s, taking its A350‑1000 commitment to 18, with deliveries slated for 2034‑36. The 787‑10s are planned for medium‑ and long‑haul routes across Asia, Australia and the Middle East, while the A350‑1000s will enable nonstop flights to North America.

On 5 August 2026 PAL received its third A350‑1000 (registration RP‑C3512) at Manila Airport from Airbus, adding to a fleet of nine A350‑1000s ordered in 2023. Six more are scheduled for delivery by 2028, and options could raise the total to 23. The new jet inaugurated a nonstop Manila‑San Francisco service, operating three times weekly from 5 August and daily from September. The airline also operated special Manila‑Davao flights on 13 and 16 August for the 2026 Kadayawan Festival, showcasing its flagship wide‑body on a domestic route. Executives Lucio Tan III and Justin Warby highlighted the aircraft’s role in PAL’s long‑haul growth strategy and its participation in cultural celebrations.
