Boeing advances major aviation deals in Bangladesh and Pakistan
Boeing is advancing major aviation deals with Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) following meetings on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines has signed an agreement to purchase 11 new aircraft, consisting of five Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners and six Boeing 737-8 jets. This follows a previous order of 14 aircraft earlier this year, bringing the airline’s total order book to 25 Boeing jets. The expansion aims to modernize the fleet and increase international connectivity.
Simultaneously, Pakistan is negotiating with Boeing to modernize the PIA fleet. Boeing has confirmed it will submit a revised proposal to the carrier. Discussions between Pakistan’s Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and Boeing Global President Dr. Brendan Nelson included potential financing through the US Export-Import Bank, aircraft leasing arrangements, and maintenance support to return grounded planes to service. Pakistan is also seeking US financing for broader energy and mining projects, including refinery upgrades and the Reko Diq copper-gold mine.
